Straw Man Attacks on Libs

My comment today on a Facebook post by one of our friends and former neighbors in Oklahoma City:

I do not know anyone who is progressive today and wants to “dispense with law and order.” In formal debate we call that a “straw man attack.” It is a misrepresentation of an opponent’s position so you can attack something they’re not even standing for and saying.

To the contrary. I and many other “progressives” believe that NO ONE should be above the law. If someone commits a crime they should be held accountable. It is that simple. Whether you’re a federal security agent or you’re the chief executive. And if you are convicted of committing a felony, you should not hold public office. That’s not asking too much.
