Fire All the Moral Military Leaders
Generally, NFL teams don’t fire their head coach in the middle of the Super Bowl. It can be pretty stupid to fire your top military leader in the middle of an active war. Unless of course, you value loyalty over expertise. Or you’ve asked military commanders to do something considered illegal, or unconstitutional, so you need to find someone who won’t object.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to step down and take immediate retirement, sources familiar with the decision told CBS News. One of the sources said Hegseth wants someone in the role who will implement President Trump and Hegseth's vision for the Army.
and:
Hegseth has fired more than a dozen senior military officers, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. C.Q. Brown, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti, the Air Force Vice Chief of Staff Gen. James Slife and the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse.
What could go wrong when the chief executive is continuing an illegal and haphazardly conceived war in the Middle East, and you’ve fired all your top military commanders in charge of the respective branches of the Armed Forces? And in addition, you’ve purged all your judge advocates (JAGs) to be sure that US Constitutional and moral limits are removed in the conduct of warfare and operations.
What could go wrong? Isn’t this a foolproof recipe to “make American great” in the eyes of the world in history?
Lord help us.
